Can a person learn coding and apply for jobs while he has done a B.Tech in civil engineering?

First of all you need to know what is your goal.

  1. If your goal is IT/CS, then you can easily learn HTML, CSS, XML, C, C++, Java, visual studio etc. from online lectures available on YouTube and several other platforms. You can do job alongside obviously.

2. If your goal is to learn programming for civil engineering software development then the best option is to do a masters degree. This type of software development needs huge amount of knowledge in mathematics, computation and programming.

Therefore, if you have financial restraints, then I will suggest you to go for the first option i.e. do job and learn programming simultaneously.

If we compare scope of the two career options, option 1 has abundant amount of job opportunities in India, the starting salary varies from 15k to 30k per month in Indian rupees.

Whereas there is no scope of option 2, for now in India but yes there is a huge market for these people in Europe, North America and Australia. The starting salary varies from 5lakh to 70lakh per month in Indian rupees. So if you want Rolls Royce, go for option 2.
